This report summarizes chemical data for, and describes the water-quality conditions of, the lower Boise River and its tributaries and drains. Data were collected during phases 1 and 2 of a 3-phase, 8-year study to assess the water quality and biotic integrity of the river and provide a baseline from which to assess future trends.

The work was done in cooperation with the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality and the Lower Boise River Water Quality Plan, Inc.(LBRWQP). The LBRWQP, composed of numerous public and private agencies, groups, and individuals, was established in 1992 to identify areas that contribute significant amounts of nutrients and suspended sediment to the river, initiate voluntary water-quality management practices, and monitor the long-term effectiveness of these practices on the water quality and biotic integrity of the river.
