NAME

obs_dpm.f

MODULE PROCESS (TYPE)

Module declares and reads for each day the observed values used in the model.

DEFINITION

The observed data input module that is based on obs_ti_prms.f (as currently in MMS) of Leavesley and others (1983) and as modified by Mastin and Vaccaro (2001). For this module, some of the types of observed data have been eliminated and other types have been added. For example, pan evaporation has been eliminated and throughfall was added.

KEYWORDS

CREATION DATE

July, 2004

PARAMETERS DECLARED

none

VARIABLES DECLARED

runoff

Observed runoff for each gage, in cubic feet per second.

bsflw

Estimated baseflow for each gage, in cubic feet per second.

thrufall

Fraction of total precipitation at gage that is throughfall, in decimal fraction of precipitation.

precip

Observed precipitation at each rain gage, in inches.

tmin

Observed minimum temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit.

tmax

Observed maximum temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit.

solrad

Observed solar radiation, in langleys.

snow

Observed snow pillow/course data, in inches.

EXTERNAL VARIABLES USED

none

DESCRIPTION

The module first declares the observed input variables in the declare part of the module.  The variables are described above. There is no initialization part of the module.  Therefore, the run part of the module is entered after MMS’s initialization process to read in (input) the observed values for the day for each site.

For the case of missing daily values of precip, the value can be set to less than zero (0), for example, -1.0, and calculations using this site will be skipped for the day.

For the case of missing daily values of either tmin or tmax, the value can be set to -99.0 or less, and the calculations for either tmin or tmax for this site will be skipped for the day.
